Spring Forward into Spring and SHOW UP EARLY! - start now...

Wow, it is March 2025! Spring is almost here, and I'm gearing up for Daylight Savings Time. As an HSP, every change requires a bit of gearing up, all the more for the sensitive youth, though they are truly resilient. It's just the change makes it harder on the parents, haha.

Our next office hours gathering is tomorrow, Friday at 10am Pacific | 1pm Eastern, and I expect we'll do a bit of coaching for this big transition of time and season. Our other March meetings will be the 12th and 30th, with a broadcast from our Costa Rica retreat location in between, date TBA! Would you like to try an Office Hours session out? You can purchase just one session at this link without having to join. Video and talking NOT required... Some folx just listen.

With March comes the equinox, the first day of Spring (Fall in the southern hemisphere), and for most of us the clocks change one hour. In the US the time change, Spring Forward, is this coming weekend. So I'm starting now to add 10 minutes a day to my clocks. Of course your computer and phone won't do that easily, but you can make a note. Hopefully you have a couple real clocks around... change them now... every morning you "lose" 15 minutes. Then, it's not such a shocker this weekend. If you have to be somewhere on time, no worries, you'll be early, and that is best for HSPs and sensitive youth anyway!! Enjoy the breather.

I hope to hear from you... How is the adjusting and being early (or on time) going? I always plan for early, even when it isn't time to change the clocks. But, sometimes life happens and makes me on time instead. That is way better than the overstimulation of running or arriving late.

When do I fail miserably at being early/on time? When I get caught up in my people pleasing or empathy overdrive.

You know how it is. You care about the person (client, parent, child, friend) so you keep listening or helping past the moment you need to leave. It never feels good to do that, but... you think it feels good when you're helping. This brings us to the point:

Helping isn't good for anyone (helper or helpee) when you're helping another person while ignoring your own needs or when you haven't taken good enough care of yourself. It's like a drug. Maybe it's like marijuana or alcohol, but my drug of choice IS sugar, chocolate especially. When I'm eating it, it feels great on the taste buds and soothes any challenging emotion, but just in the moment.

What do you have like that? Is there something you do that feels right or soothing in the moment, but doesn't serve your higher good or last past the moment? Like over helping, over eating, staying overwhelmed? Coming from a family with addiction, I have them all. When you had a not good enough childhood, you are more likely to be challenged by these impulses. Trauma does it too, but you can change your path.

What would you love? You can have it. Let's start by figuring out what that is. Some HSPs tell me they don't know. They are challenged by the question. What would you love is the underlying theme of our HSP Luxury Jungle Retreat, and the next year of curriculum at AYHS. I'm so glad you are here for it.

What would I love? Many things, but here I'll say, genuinely, "I would love to be of service to sensitive families across the world." If you can help my content reach more people, I would LOVE that. You have to put it out there, you know? Ask for what you would love.

Blessings and breath to each of you,

Alane

Dear Reader, Pre-Breakfast Breakfast... How is that HSP friendly? Remember, you were born to be the emotional and spiritual leader, the priestly advisor or the shaman. You awaken to discover a hot drink on your doorstep. You wander to the kitchen and find a luxurious spread of nourishing food and a hot drink refill table, but it's not time for breakfast yet, you are just on your way to a morning meditation, stretch, yoga, hike, or a sit in the garden... When you are practicing emotional...
