Stop Watching or Reading the News Right Now

If you are highly sensitive, your brain needs to step back!

Tragedy is always happening somewhere. So is hope. Your considerable empathy is a key to helping the world. But, it's a quiet path of sending love.

I'm holding office hours today at 5 pm Pacific, 8 pm Eastern. I'm letting you know because I wanted to email you and ask you to take care of your brain by breaking away from more tragic news.

If you are consuming any news today, stop now. You have seen enough. If you haven't seen the newest tragedy, you don't need to.

All we can do is pray and meditate, sending love and compassion to our neighbors and the world. While you are at it, please be sure to send love and compassion to your tender, vulnerable parts. (Remember my lesson from last office hours?)

Imagine you have a small bunny in your arms who needs to feel safe, secure, and protected. What do you do for that bunny? It is you when you are at odds with the world... take care of you.

Let's talk later, at office hours (f you aren't a member of AYHS, you can still come--use this link to purchase.)

Blessings and breathing consciously,

Alane

PS This email was so appreciated by half of you, that I'm resending the content in case you didn't see it. It's an important one for our mental health.

I love being introverted. I love the quiet and time spent either alone or in intimate relationships with dear ones (including my animals.)

But I can become isolated and many introverts can.

Isolation Warning Signs might include:

  • Negative self-talk
  • More anxious feelings
  • Feeling lonely more than usual or more regularly
  • Losing track of time
  • Less interest in solo fun
  • Longer times between calling friends or family
  • Dishes or laundry piling up
  • Irritable and not able to shift it
  • Lingering sadness or sorrow
  • Waves of grief resurfacing and sticking around

Do you need support? If you notice these warning signs, reach out for help. In the US, we have a mental health 911 line, 988. If you call or text 988, there are counselors available for mental health crises. Also, you can get support by texting Home to 741741.
