Dear Reader, Dads are EVERYTHING. I am sending all dads my love and gratitude. Are you a father? If so, please come as my guest. If you're not a member of our community, please use the coupon code: DADDY Also welcome, those:
Dear Dads (and my Dad), You are so important. You are our Redwood trees. The life, the strength, the unwavering when needed, the flexibility at the top, the complex root system holding us all up, and nourishing the family around you. Your strength and sensitivity, and great accomplishments show us our potential. I cherish every moment I spend with my dad. And I cherish every dad. “Manning Up” in this world has changed, and just as with we moms, you now have to do it all. Be strong and be soft. Be unwavering and be creatively compassionate. It all comes down to love and care. When you can offer these things unconditionally, you are doing everything. Everything you need to do and everything your kids need. (Tip: Start with you and your father first... remember they didn’t have the support they needed to be what you needed, and they did their best.) I’m eternally grateful for all I have learned and received from my dad. I’ll never be able to appreciate enough the men who have brought fathering to my son’s life. (Many kids, including mine, who has two moms, grow up without a dad in the home, but that doesn’t matter.) Dads are important, and fathering comes in many different shapes and shades. 💙 Alane Please join us tomorrow for Fatherhood: Gifts, Gaps, & Growth Are You Highly Sensitive Events SAVE THE DATE and links here! Dear Reader, Squat Challenge for Sensitives: An annual program for sensitive nervous systems. How did it start? I got on a squatting kick a few years ago in August. I realized doing bodyweight squats had a huge impact on my nervous system and mental health which aligned perfectly with Differential Susceptibility...
Dear Reader, Why Pulling Away from What Is Hard Always Makes It Worse | Pema Chödrön Did you have a chance to check out this short interview with Pema Chödrön? When my life was falling apart (again) in 2004, my therapist referred me to Pema's book, When Things Fall Apart. It was truly eye-opening to me... and counterintuitive. It's a lesson I get to learn over and over again: Pulling away from what is hard makes it worse. I was raised with "When the going gets tough, the tough get going...
