Dear Reader, November is here, and I've been thinking about how we choose to spend our time and energy. Before you fill up your calendar with all the things you think you should do, consider what you actually WANT to do. What would you love to say YES to this month? Who do you want to spend time with? What would you like to explore, experience, or make room for? I encourage you to give these questions some thought. Maybe even write down your answers. I know if I don't write things down, they have a way of disappearing! And now for the other side of YES. Welcome to NO-vember! What might you say NO to this month?
For those of us with sensitive nervous systems, our time and energy are especially precious. And saying NO isn't always easy. We notice other people's needs, we care about their feelings, and sometimes we put their wishes ahead of our own without even realizing it. But here's something worth practicing: Every NO makes room for a YES. A YES to rest, connection, creativity, joy, or simply having a little breathing room. So, what will you say NO to this NO-vember? And perhaps more importantly, what wonderful YES will you be making room for? Thank you to bemorewithless.com for this fabulous way of thinking about NO-vember as self-care. Halloween. Samhain. All Saints' Day. Día de los Muertos. Across cultures and traditions, this turning of the season has long been a time to acknowledge death, honor those who came before us, and remember that our relationships do not simply disappear when someone is gone.
